Creighton “Jay” Nady was the heavyweight champion of the California Collegiate Boxing Conference in 1968 and 1969 with a 16-0 collegiate record during those two years. All of his wins in 1968 came by knockout. As a defensive lineman in football, he was the only Nevada player to make All-West Coast Athletic Conference in 1968 and was named second team All-WCAC in 1969. In 1969, he was also named the Athlete of the Year by the Sierra Nevada Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association. Since his graduation in 1971, Nady has stayed active in both Nevada and community support programs. He was a charter member of the Nevada Alumni Football Association and Wolf Pack fundraising associations and has been a coach and official. A championship boxing referee, he earned his professional license in 1972 and has worked over 5,000 amateur and professional boxing matches. Nady also served a term as a member of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, appointed by then Governor Richard Bryan, and served as the manager for Mills Lane's successful campaign for district attorney and judge in Reno.
