Men’s Golf Coach (1994-2004)
Served as Nevada’s men’s golf coach from 1994-2004… was named coach of the year twice in his career… was the 1997 Big West Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Wolf Pack to a second-place finish and coaching the conference player of the year in Justin Peters… earned the honor again in 2002 in the Western Athletic Conference… turned Nevada men’s golf into a consistent top 50 national program, including a No. 1 national ranking the second week of the 2000 season after capturing the Northwest Collegiate tournament title… led the Wolf Pack team to four NCAA Regional appearances (1996, 1998, 2001 and 2002)… also led Nevada individuals to two additional NCAA Regional appearances… coached a pair of All-Americans in Peters and Rich Barcelo and a total of 13 all-conference selections… Nevada won 10 tournaments during his 10-year career… his 1997-98 team finished in the top 10 of 10 of 11 outings and saw three players win tournament medalist honors, a feat unmatched in the country that year… started his college career as a baseball player at Arizona State but transferred to Nevada and played three years for the Wolf Pack club as a catcher and third baseman… served as Nevada’s baseball team captain two years… has purchased numerous golf courses in the area, including Wolf Run Golf Course in 2003, and continues to refurbish and run courses all over the community… did play by play for Wolf Pack baseball broadcasts and has remained a Nevada season ticketholder for years… has continued to give back to the northern Nevada community, including starting a junior golf program and working to keep golf prices affordable for the community.
