One Community, One Pack - Giving Back to the Community
Nevada Athletics has a long-standing commitment to giving back to the northern Nevada community that supports the department, and Wolf Pack student-athletes, coaches and staff spend more than 7,000 hours volunteering in the community each year.
Through the wide range of community service activities, Wolf Pack student-athletes have the opportunity to interact with the community that has adopted them, provide youth with good role models and enhance their own character and college experience.Â
Student-athletes, coaches and staff make regular visits to local area elementary and middle schools and the Boys and Girls Club, hold autograph sessions, conduct sports clinics, collect items and volunteer for local organizations like the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, the St. Vincent’s Programs and Habitat for Humanity and participate in community events like Iron Man, the Reno-Tahoe Open, the Reno Balloon Races, Race for the Cure and the Reno Rodeo to name just a few.
Nevada has consistently led the Mountain West Conference in community service hours, winning the MW Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Community Service Award, a league-wide competition among league institutions, four times since joining the conference. The Mountain West school that tallies the most community service hours will be presented with the award at the Mountain West Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas in March.
The Wolf Pack won the last three Mountain West Community Service Challenge Awards - 2019, 2020 & 2022 - , turning in over 9,400 hours in 2018-19, over 7,000 hours in 2019-20 and more than 2,100 in 2021-22 despite COVID-19 restrictions still in place for much of the year (no award was given in 2020-21). The Wolf Pack also won the conference championship in 2015 and 2016 and came in second in both 2017 and 2018.
If you are interested in having Wolf Pack student-athletes or coaches perform community service for your organization or event, please contact Rhonda Bennett, Senior Associate Athletics Director (775-682-6981 or rlundin@unr.edu).

Give Back Like Jack Award
In partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, the Wolf Pack has dedicated its community service efforts to the memory of the late Jack Reviglio, a longtime philanthropist in Reno and Sparks. Led by organizations that have been shaped by their relationships with the Reviglio family over the years, the "Give Back Like Jack" campaign seeks to inspire groups and individuals in northern Nevada to do good in the community in the spirit of Reviglio who dedicated his life to philanthropy and community service.
"Jack Reviglio, Western Nevada Supply and the Reviglio family have been so generous to Nevada Athletics and other community organizations," former Nevada Director of Athletics Cary Groth said at the time the award was established. "It is the greatest tribute we can pay to Jack and his legacy by dedicating our community service efforts to him and helping to inspire others in the community to do the same."
Nevada Athletics has also established annual "Give Back Like Jack" awards, which honor the student-athlete and staff member who most exemplify the dedication to community service that was the hallmark of Reviglio's life.
