Softball (1981-83)
Kelly Dick Orlich was a multi-sport athlete at Sparks High and graduated in 1979. She came to Nevada and made her mark in the Wolf Pack record books. She earned All-America honors in 1982 as a junior, hitting .351 and leading the team in extra base hits and stolen bases. The team finished 27-9 that year and earned a berth into the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Division II national tournament. By the time her Nevada career ended, Orlich held the team records in virtually every offensive category, including batting, home runs, runs batted in and stolen bases. After college, she got into coaching at McQueen High School and South Lake Tahoe High School. She helped turn McQueen into a state powerhouse, leading the Lancers to the state softball championship in 1986.
