Football (1968-69)
Terry Hermeling came to Nevada from a junior college and played two seasons with the Wolf Pack from 1968-69. He was named to the All-Far Western Conference team his senior year and attracted the eye of a number of professional scouts. His pro career began in 1970 when he signed with the Washington Redskins, and he represented Nevada in the professional ranks for 11 years with Washington, playing in 120 games with 103 starts. At 6-5, 255 pounds, he earned a reputation for protecting his quarterbacks and for being one of the most intelligent offensive linemen in the NFL. He helped the Redskins win the 1972 NFC Championship and lead the NFC in yards passing in 1975, while in 1973, the team made it all the way to Super Bowl before losing to Miami 14-7. He captained the Washington offensive line for many years, and among his honors is a plaque from the Nevada State Society in Washington D.C. He currently owns Yur's Bar and Grill in Portland, Oregon.
