At 6-4 and only 235 pounds, Greg Rea was one of the greatest guards in history of Wolf Pack football. He was named an All-American his senior season at Nevada in 1985 and earned first-team All-Big Sky Conference honors his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Selected to Nevada’s Team of the Century in 1998, Rea was a team captain for the Wolf Pack his junior and senior seasons. The Stockton, Calif., native also was an excellent long snapper for punts and place kicks, helping punter David Heppe and place kicker Tony Zendejas earn All-America status.

Coach Ault once said about him, “Greg Rea was a coach’s dream fulfilled. He was hard-working, conscientious, a loyal leader and one whale of a football player. Whenever we needed those couple of extra tough yards on a key play, we always ran the play over left guard- Greg’s position.”
