Football, Basketball (1946-49)
Scott Beasley was a member of the record-breaking Wolf Pack football teams of the late 1940s. He played for Jim Aiken in 1946 and in 1947-48 for Joe Sheeketski. The solidly-built 200-pounder from Sullivan, Indiana, was originally a quarterback but was moved to end where he became a top receiver and blocker. Beasley also played varsity basketball for Coach Jake Lawlor and in 1946 had the unique distinction of playing games in both sports halfway around the world within four days. He played with Nevada in football against Hawaii in Honolulu and then rushed to New York City to take part in the Wolf Pack’s basketball win over St. John’s in Madison Square Garden. After a brief fling with the pros, Beasley entered a career in education in Washoe County where he taught in Reno and Sparks schools for more than 25 years. He was the principal at Libby Booth School and was also active as sports official.Â
