Football (1988-91)
Matt Clafton was a four-year letter winner from 1988-91 and helped lead Nevada to a 39-11 mark during that time, including a 25-3 record during his junior and senior seasons. His play helped spark Nevada to its only Division I-AA championship game appearance in 1990, against Georgia Southern. Nevada's career tackles leader with 388, the Dublin, Calif., native was a Sporting News All-American in 1990 and a consensus Division I-AA All-American in 1991. He was the 1991 winner of the Doc Martie Award as the university's top male athlete. A three-time first team All-Big Sky selection, Clafton averaged 123 tackles per season over his final three years at Nevada.
