A native of Hawthorne, Nev., Humbeto Serrano Jr. lettered in three sports (track and field, boxing and gymnastics) and is believed to be the only Nevada student-athlete to letter in three sports in one semester (spring of 1970) in the modern era. As a boxer, he went 19-2 in his collegiate career and was the California Collegiate Boxing Conference champion in his weight division in 1969. In 1970, he was the West Coast Athletic Conference pole vault champion and he held the school record in that event at 15-6 until 1973. Serrano received the Doc Martie Award as the top male senior student-athlete of the year. Serrano went on to teach and coach at Churchill County High School in Fallon and has been involved with the Boy Scouts in the area.Â
