Football (1977-78)
James Curry was the leading tackler on the 1977 and 1978 Wolf Pack football teams. He earned All-America honors his senior year after helping lead the team to an 11-0 regular season record in Nevada’s first year of NCAA I-AA classification. In 1983, Curry began a Canadian Football League career which would span seven seasons. He helped his CFL teams (Toronto and Saskatchewan, respectively) win the Grey Cup league championship in 1983 and 1989, his first and last seasons. He was the CFL Player of the Year in 1984 and Outstanding Defensive Lineman in 1985 in addition to earning all-league honors in 1987. He led the Saskatchewan in sacks during the 1989 season, his last year before retirement. Curry went on to be a successful local businessman and served on the radio broadcast crew for Wolf Pack football games.
