Football, Basketball, Track & Field (1930-32)
Honored as much for his postgraduate contributions as his collegiate activities, Roy Bankofier, a McDermitt, Nev., native, earned a total of nine Block N letters in football, basketball and track. He held the university high jump record for a time. After graduating with an agriculture degree in 1933, he embarked on a coaching career, developing high school teams at Lund, Douglas, and Elko. Bankofier was a productive member of the alumni association in addition to his civic life. Elected to the Reno City Council several times, he was later elected mayor of Reno, making a total of 10 years in city government.Â
