Gymnastics (1969-73)
Candy Oliver Borda finished in the top six in the country in tryouts for the University World Team in 1970, which secured a position on the team for her. As the first woman at the University of Nevada to receive an athletic scholarship, she led the Wolf Pack women’s gymnastics team to the Southwest Regional Collegiate Gymnastics Tournament championship in 1971. She went on to become an educator and coach at Fernley High School where she won two state championships in track and two in gymnastics during her eight-year tenure.
