Men's Cross Country Thomas Patterson

Martino and Key lead the way for the Pack at the Bronco Invitational

Sunnyvale, Calif. - The Nevada Cross Country programs competed at the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara in Sunnyvale, California Saturday, placing 5th in the women's 6k and 6th in the men's 8k. 

The men ran first, in the 8k, placing 6th, notching three top-50 finishers, highlighted by Austin Key, who continued his fine form this season, finishing in 8th with a personal best and 5th best all time Pack 8k time of 24:16.5. Next best for the Wolf Pack was Eddie Yunker, who put on a great race, placing 16th with a personal best time of 24:25.0. Next best was freshman Jett Leavitt who placed 48th with a personal best time of 24:55.6. He was followed by fellow freshman Elijah Chavez, who placed 58th (25:04.3).  

Rounding out the Pack were Soma Baligad in 83rd (25:35.5), Jackson Hammons in 99th (25:49.0), and Pierce Simpkins in 124th (26:14.6). 


The women followed, running the 6k, placing 5th, notching three top-30 finishers, highlighted by Natalia Martino, who led the way for the Wolf Pack once again, placing 13th with a time of 21:10.0. Next best for the Pack was Madelyn Shipman, who ran a strong 21:21.2, to place 20th. The final top-30 finisher was Aubrey Thompson, who ran a personal best time of 21:29.5 to place 29th. 

The Pack group finishing between 50th and 60th were Paulina Hultberg in 51st (21:54.9), Kylee Denver in 54th (21:59.8), and Natalie Roberts in 58th, running a personal best time of 22:01.8.

Rounding out the Pack performances were Skylar Bennett in 88th, running a personal best 22:32.2, Marina Renna in 116th (23:00.7), and Mary DeMartini (23:30.6) in 130th.

The Pack will next be in action at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships in Fresno, California on October 31.
