LA QUINTA, Calif. - After carding an opening round 68, Liam Gobin maintained his sensational play on Tuesday, recording a score 70 (-1) in the second round to lead the way for the Nevada Men's Golf team at The Prestige at PGA West.
Gobin sits in a tie for 13th place at -4 in a field of 120 golfers entering the third and final round of the highly regarded event.Â
As a team, Nevada shot 288 (-3) on Tuesday, bringing their 36-hole score to 578 (+10). The Pack sit in 20th place on the team leaderboard heading into the final round.
Gobin was exceptional for the second consecutive day, as he tallied 11 pars and four birdies throughout the round. Gobin is just one stroke out of the top-10 and two strokes out of the top-five on the individual leaderboard, as he will have the opportunity to advance up the leaderboard over the final 18 holes.Â
Enrique Dimayuga carded a 72 (+2) throughout the second round; and the senior is tied for 48th overall at +1 through 36 holes of play. Dimayuga tallied 12 pars and three birdies throughout the round, and he is just three strokes back from being within the top-20 heading into the final round.
Freshman Jonathan Kim had a stellar day for Nevada, carding a 70 (-1) to advance 18 spots on the leaderboard Tuesday, and he is tied for 58th after 36 holes of play. Kim recorded 13 pars and three birdies throughout the round.Â
Tom Patterson shot 76 (+5) on Tuesday, and he is tied for 112th after the first two rounds of competition.
Ryan Sear rounded out the Wolf Pack lineup, recording a score of 77 (+6) throughout the second round. Sear will enter the third and final round tied for 116th at +13.Â
Individual Competition
Competing in the individual competition, Wolf Pack golfers Keita Okada and Alex Maxwell are tied for 17th overall at +1 after the first two rounds of competition.
Okada shot 74 (+2) on Tuesday and Maxwell carded a 75 (+3), bringing their 36-hole scores to 145.
Supakit (Oak) Seelanagae recorded a second-round score of 73 (+1), and he is currently tied for 27th at +3 entering the final round.Â
Freshman Aaron Leach is tied for 52nd at +12 after carding a 75 (+3) on Tuesday.
