Seelanagae, Kim Within Top-20; Pack in 11th After Round One of Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. - Nevada Men's Golfers Supakit (Oak) Seelanagae and Jonthan Kim each carded a 70 (-2) on the first day of competition at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Monday, placing them in a tie for 20th on the individual leaderboard. 

As a team, Nevada recorded a score of 286 (-2), as they finished the first round in 11th place out of 17 teams. 

Seelanagae began the day with four consecutive pars before picking up a bogey on the fifth hole. The junior got back to even par with a birdie on the eighth hole, however, he picked up another bogey on the ninth hole, as he entered the back nine at +1. 

Seelanagae was exceptional on the back nine, picking up a par on the 10th hole before proceeding to tally three consecutive birdies on holes 11-13. He went on to par the final five holes, as he completed the day at -2.

Kim maintained his recent hot streak, as the freshman recorded his fourth consecutive round shooting 73 or better with a 70 (-2). Kim started off the day with three straight pars before earning a birdie on the fourth hole. He picked up a bogey on the following hole; but, he bounced back with two consecutive birdies on holes six and seven. 

Kim tallied three consecutive pars before picking up another bogey on the 11th hole. Over the final seven holes, the freshman had four pars, two birdies, and one bogey, as he finished the day at -2 and tied with Seelanagae in the 20th position on the leaderboard. 

Keita Okada and Tom Patterson each carded a 73 (+1) for the first round, as they finished the day in a tie for 47th. Okada recorded 12 pars and three birdies throughout the day, while Patterson tallied seven pars and six birdies. 

Ryan Sear rounded out the Wolf Pack lineup, carding a 75 (+3) on the first day of competition to conclude the day tied for 65th. Sear accumulated six pars and five birdies across the first set of 18 holes. 

Competing as individual participants, Aaron Leach finished the first round tied for 72nd after carding a 76 (+4), while Liam Gobin finished the day tied for 89th at +7. 

Nevada will return to the course tomorrow morning for the second round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, with tee times set to begin at 7:30 a.m.
