Nevada finishes tied for third at Wyoming Cowboy Classic

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Nevada men's golf posted an 841 combined score which is its ninth-lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history to finish tied for third with Colorado State at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic Tuesday.
 
San Diego State (-39) won the team championship with a 17-under final round, Long Beach State (-26) finished second, Colorado State (-23) finished tied with Nevada for third, UNLV (-18) dropped one spot into fifth, Fresno State (-14) finished sixth, and LMU (-12) finishes seventh. UTSA (8th, -11), San Diego (9th, -9), and UC Davis (10th, -8) rounded out the top-10. Nevada's 841 tied the 2005-06 PING Golf Cougar Classic as the ninth-lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history.
 
A.J. Lintunen (-10) shot a four-under 68 during the final round of play to finish tied for seventh. Lintunen made five birdies today and only one bogey during a near perfect round for the senior from Espoo, Finland. Lintunen continues to play solid golf for another tournament after finishing under-par for the second straight event.
 
Quim Vidal Mora (-8) finished tied for 11th after closing with a five-under 67, marking his lowest round of the tournament during the third round today. Vidal Mora sank seven birdies during the final 18 including back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17 and birdies on two-of-three holes on five and seven. Like Lintunen, Vidal Mora continues to play low rounds, marking his sixth consecutive tournament below par this season.
 
Peyton Callens (-7) put together another strong tournament after winning the individual title at The Goodwin a week ago. Callens made five birdies and just one par during the final round today, shooting four-under (68) to end his tournament tied for 15th.
 
Trey Davis made three birdies during his two-over 74 in the final round and finished tied for 100th (+8). Michael Sarro (+13) tied for 121st after an eight over final round 80 today.
 
The Pack plays its final tournament of the regular season Apr. 22-23 as it enters the BYU Classic at Riverside Country Club in Provo, Utah.
