Nevada jumps to third at Mountain West Championship

BREMERTON, Calif. – The Nevada men's golf team shoots the third-lowest second round in the Mountain West Championship to climb up one spot into third after 36 holes at Gold Mountain-Olympic Course in Bremerton, Wash. Trey Davis shot six-under (69) to tie for second after two rounds and Quim Vidal Mora moved up 13 spots to tie for seventh (-4) with a second-round 67.
 
Nevada sits 13 shots back of Colorado State (1st, -22) and 11 shots back of San Diego State (2nd, -20). Boise State (-5) is four shots back and in fourth. San Jose State (E) is fifth, Wyoming (+4) is sixth, Fresno State (+8) is seventh, New Mexico (+9) is eighth, Utah State (+16) is ninth, UNLV (+20) is 10th, and Air Force (+46) rounds out the 11-team field.
 
Trey Davis (-8) dropped one spot into a tie for second after a three-under 69 during the second 18 holes of play. Davis made six birdies and three bogeys during his round today continuing his solid play after a tone-setting 67 during the first round.
 
Quim Vidal Mora was impressive during the second round to climb back into the thick of the competition. He shot a 67 (-5) to move to four-under and tied for seventh. Vidal Mora made six birdies and just one bogey during today's action. His five-under was the second-lowest score of the round today trailing only Connor Jones (1st, -6) and Youssef Guezzale (2nd, -6).
 
The Pack shot 288 in the first round and 279 in the second round for a 579 overall two-round score.
 
A.J. Lintunen made four birdies on his way to a 71 (-1) for the second round a three-over score to tie for 27th in the tournament. Michael Sarro shot 72 (E) to remain at three-over and is tied for 27th.
 
Peyton Callens made just one birdie and four bogeys with two double bogeys to shoot 77 (+5) and tie for 36th (+6) through 36 holes.
 
The Mountain West Championship continues tomorrow at 8 a.m. with the pairings for the final round to be announced.
