SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Nevada men's golf team shot four-under during the final round to finish 5th in the Lamkin San Diego Classic at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif.
LSU finished first after shooting 37-under (827), Washington finished second at 29-under (835), Notre Dame placed third (-27, 837), hosts San Diego was fourth after closing the tournament at 25-under (839) and Nevada once again continues its strong play with another top-5 finish (-13). This marks the seventh top-7 finish for the Pack this season, in seven tournaments played.
The Pack hasn't finished outside the top-7 in any of its tournaments this season and posted 277 (Rd 1), 290 (Rd 2), and 284 (Rd 3) to cap its tournament.
"It was a successful trip for our guys," said Head Coach
Jacob Wilner. "It was also a complete team effort this week in San Diego. We got counting scores from our entire lineup."
Nevada had four of its five players finish at even or under-par with
Trey Davis leading the way at three-under to finish tied for 18th. Davis made eagle on nine and posted 11 birdies during the 54-hole tournament. His 11 birdies were tops on the team, tied with
Peyton Callens and
Michael Sarro.
Quim Vidal Mora shot 70 today to close his tournament at one-under and tied for 28th.
A.J. Lintunen was tied for 10th after two rounds at the event but fell into a tie for 38th and even-par after a closing-round 77 today.
Peyton Callens shot 74 during the final 18 holes to finish tied for 38th and even.
Michael Sarro shot 73 during the final 18 today and finished tied for 51st (+3)
The Pack is back on the course in The Godwin on Mar. 24 at Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif.
