DAVIS, Calif. – With one round complete at the El Macero Classic the Nevada men's golf team sits in 12
th place.
The Wolf Pack combined to shoot a team score of 301 on Saturday to sit at 13-over par and in 12
th place in the 15-team field. There are currently only four teams in the field under par. Saint Mary's leads the team standings at 10-under, four shots better than UC Davis. Pacific and San Francisco are the other two teams under par after 18 holes.
Senior
Sam Meek leads the way for the Wolf Pack after carding a 1-over 73 on day one. Meek will head into round two tied for 24
th place in the 80-player field. Meek was cruising along during his round, making the turn at 2-under par, but a bogey and double bogey on the back nine dropped him to the top 25. Nevada has four players next in line in a tie for 50
th place after they each shot rounds of 76. Those four include
Sam Harned,
Connor Motherway,
Brendan MacDougall and
Peyton Callens, who is entered in the event as an individual.
Trey Davis rounds out the Pack lineup in a tie for 60
th at 5-over par.
Ethan Farnem of Saint Mary's sits at the top of the individual leaderboard after 18 holes at 7-under par. He currently has a three-shot lead over Matthew Sutherland of Fresno State.
