LA QUINTA, Calif. – With two of the three rounds complete at The Prestige, the Nevada men's golf team sits in 12
th place.
The Wolf Pack struggled a bit in Tuesday's second round, sliding five spots to 12
th place with 18 holes remaining in the tournament. Nevada though is still just three shots back of jumping back into the top 10 in the 24-team field. The Pack combined for a team score of 294 on the day and is 13-over par for the event. The nation's No. 1 team, Pepperdine, leads the team portion of the tournament at 8-under par, three shots ahead of Arizona and Arizona State. The Waves, Wildcats and Sun Devils are the only teams in the field currently under par.
Individually the Wolf Pack has two student-athletes inside the top 10 in a field that features 120 golfers. Senior
Sam Harned and junior
Trey Davis are both tied for 10
th place at 1-under par after 36 holes of action. In Tuesday's second round Davis put together the low round of the day for the Wolf Pack as he carded a 1-under 70 to jump into the top 10. He played the final 12 holes of his round perfectly, with two birdies and no bogeys. Harned made 16 pars during his second round en route to posting a 1-over 72. Both Davis and Harned are five shots back of the individual leader.
Freshman
Tom Patterson, playing in his first collegiate event this week, recorded a 76 today, which puts him at 7-over par for the tournament and in a tie for 77
th. Senior
Brendan MacDougall also carded a 76 in his second round and is currently tied for 85
th place. Senior
Sam Meek rounds out the list of Pack golfers as he enters the final round tied for 93
rd. Junior
Peyton Callens, who is entered in a separate event for those playing as individuals, carded a 73 for the second straight day and is tied for 32
nd place in his event.
