RENO, Nev. – Oregon State topped the Nevada men's golf team in the two-team Wolf Pack Shootout, held Monday at Montreux Country Club.
 
The Wolf Pack had the upper hand after the opening round in the 36-hole event, carding a team score of 281 to Oregon State's 289. The Beavers took charge though in the afternoon, combining for a team round of 278 to the Pack's 297. All in all, OSU topped Nevada by the final tally of 567 (9-under) to 578 (2-over).
 
From the official Wolf Pack team lineup, seniors Sam Harned and Tony Gil posted the top scores as each of them finished the day at 1-under par. Harned and Gil both shot rounds of 72 and 71 on the day to tie for fourth place in the 19-player field. Fellow senior Sam Meek tied for seventh at 1-over after rounds of 68 and 77. Newcomers Cam Kellett and Griffin Cooper placed 10^th and 19^th, respectively. Kellett carded rounds of 70 and 77 to finish at 3-over, while Cooper shot 83 and 78 and was 17-over par for the day.
 
Nevada had every one of its student-athletes competing in the event as the remaining four were entered as individuals. Freshman Connor Motherway led the individual Pack competitors by tying for fourth place, along with Harned and Gil. Motherway posted a round of 78 in round one, but rebounded nicely with a season and tournament-low 65 in round two. Sophomore Peyton Callens tied with Meek for seventh after carding rounds of 72 and 73. Sophomore Trey Davis tied for 11^th at 7-over par, while redshirt freshman Mitch Abbott tied for 15^th after finishing at 10-over par.
 
Oregon State grabbed the top three spots on the individual leaderboard, with Spencer Tibbits taking top honors at 5-under par.
 
Nevada returns to action at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational Oct. 7-8 at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
