NEVADA OPENS SEASON AT TEXAS STATE TOURNAMENT
Coming off its second Mountain West regular season championship in four years, Nevada will begin its season this Friday, Feb. 15 against No. 24 Missouri State at the Texas State Tournament ... Played in San Marcos, Texas, the Pack will also face the hosting Bobcats on Saturday and finish the weekend against the Utah Utes Sunday morning ... Nevada will wrap up its first slate of games on Tuesday afternoon, with a contest at UC Davis at 2:30 p.m. ... Alex Margulies will have the radio call for the Wolf Pack for the games played Friday though Sunday, and can be heard on 94.1 FM/1450 AM on Friday and Sunday, with Saturday's broadcast being internet only ... Doug Greenwald, the voice of the Nevada women's basketball team will have the call over the radio for Tuesday's contest against the Aggies ... Live stats for all four games will be available at nevadawolfpack.com/baseballls ... A stream for every game played in the Texas State Tournament will be available on the Texas State Bobcat's website ... Nevada returns three All-Conference players from last season in Joshua Zamora, Jake Jackson and Kaleb Foster, all of which also were named to the MW All-Conference Preseason team ... Zamora enters his second season after being named the MW Freshman of the Year when he hit a conference-best .427 in MW play and totaled a team-high nine home runs on the season ... Jackson, after being named second-team All-MW after leading the conference with six MW victories, will return for the Pack this season ... On Friday against No. 24 ranked Missouri State, junior Ryan Anderson will earn the start for the Wolf Pack ... He finished with a 3-1 record last season and three saves after being used in a multitude of roles by the Wolf Pack ... Some notable freshmen joined Nevada this season, including Julian Boyd and Owen Sharts who were both selected in the 2018 MLB draft ... Boyd was taken by the Chicago Cubs in the 26th round and Sharts was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 32nd round ... Following his third consecutive season reaching the conference tournament, head coach T.J. Bruce was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year after posting a league-best 20-9 record in conference play.
