Reno, Nev. - Don Weir Field at Peccole Park

LP:Â
Kainoa Kaneshiro (0-1)
RENO, Nev. -Â A seven-run second inning for Saint Mary's proved too deep a hole for Nevada to escape in an 11-5 loss Tuesday at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park.
Jacob Doyle provided an RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly from
Junhyuk Kwon to give Nevada a 2-0 lead after one, but the advantage proved short-lived. Saint Mary's (23-17) quickly put runners in scoring position against Wolf Pack starter
Kainoa Kaneshiro as Ian Armstrong was hit by a pitch and Jacob Johnson doubled to left-center.
RBI singles from Brady Petit and Brett Williams tied it up at 2-2, and after a walk to load the bases, Cody Kashimoto beat out a potential double-play ball to bring Petit in with the go-ahead run. Tanner Griffith added a two-run double to open up a three-run lead.
Nevada (21-16) was able to get back within four with a run in the third and
Sean Yamaguchi's solo homer in the fourth, but the Gaels scored thrice in the fifth to open up its lead to 11-4. Williams and Griffith again had run-scoring hits, each finishing the day with two hits while Griffith drove in three runs.
Kaneshiro was charged with five runs over 1.1 innings in taking the loss, while for Saint Mary's Jake Nobles went the first two innings of a bullpen game for his first win.
Yamaguchi drove in two runs along with his solo homer, while
Rominic Quiban went 3-for-4 and
Mikey Cruz Jr. doubled in the seventh to extend his hitting streak to 22.
Nevada continues the home stand this weekend, hosting UNLV for a Mountain West series beginning Friday at 6:05 p.m.
