RENO, Nev. -Â Nevada's
Jayce Dobie was named a semifinalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award, the College Baseball Foundation announced Thursday.
The award is named after former Washington State University standout John Olerud, who achieved success both as a first baseman and left-handed pitcher during the late 1980s. He was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
Dobie was one of 15 semifinalists for the honor, and the only Mountain West representative.
In 2026 the senior first baseman and pitcher has been an integral part of Nevada's pursuit of a second-straight Mountain West regular-season title. Dobie, the only member of the Wolf Pack to appear in all 37 games so far this season, leads the team with a .399 batting average as well as 59 hits and a .474 on-base percentage, and shares the team leads in doubles (13) and total bases (90) while ranking second in RBIs (36). On the mound, he has made six starts as one of the Pack's midweek pitchers, sporting a 1-2 record and 11 strikeouts over 15.0 innings pitched.
Selected to the All-Mountain West First Team a season ago, Dobie has made his case as a leading Mountain West Player of the Year candidate in 2026. Through 15 conference games, Dobie is batting .446 with a team-best 29 hits including five homers and 22 RBIs. None of those hits were more dramatic, however, than Dobie's walk-off, three-run homer April 12 against San José State which gave Nevada a 5-4 victory. With nine conference games remaining, Nevada, at 10-5 currently leads New Mexico by a half-game and is a game ahead of Air Force and Washington State.
Nevada (21-16, 10-5 MW) plays six of those final nine at home beginning with a three-game series this weekend against UNLV at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park.
