RENO, Nev. – After a solid open to the 2018-19 season, the Nevada men's golf team is back in action this week at the Husky Invitational, which is being hosted by Washington.
 
"We are excited to travel up to the Pacific Northwest and play in the Husky," said head coach Jacob Wilner. "This is a 6-count-5 event which is pretty rare and I feel it is a good opportunity to showcase the depth of our roster."
 
The two-day, three-round tournament begins on Tuesday with the first 36 holes and will conclude Wednesday with the final 18 holes. The event is being held at Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash. and will play at 6,911 yards with a par of 71. This is Nevada's first time competing in this event.
 
This week each team will play six competitors, with the top five scores counting towards the overall team score. This scoring format is different from the usual 5-count-4 format. Nevada will be among 12 teams competing for the Husky Invitational title, including two other schools from the Mountain West in Boise State and San Jose State. The Wolf Pack will also face some international competition as delegations from Sweden and Taiwan are also entered in the field.
 
Wilner will send the same six to Washington that competed in the team's season-opening tournament, the Badger Invite, two weeks ago. The Pack earned a tie for third place in its opening tournament and was led by sophomore Joey Vrzich, who claimed the individual title. Stephen Osborne, Sam Meek, Sam Harned, Trey Davis and Tony Gil will each join Vrzich in the lineup this week.
