ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Nevada men's golf team wrapped up its stay at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate with a 12
th place finish.
The Wolf Pack shot a team score of 301 (+13) on Saturday to lock in a 12
th place finish in a tough field of 17 teams. Nevada finished ahead of Washington State, UTEP, San Diego, Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State. Playing on a tough golf course, not one of the 17 teams finished under par for the tournament. BYU won the event at 9-over par by four strokes over Washington. UNLV entered the final round with the team lead but a team score of 304 dropped it to fourth.
Senior
Grant Booth posted the best Wolf Pack finish with a tie for 16
th place. Booth shot rounds of 73, 74 and 73 to finish at 4-over par, 12 shots behind tournament winner George Cunningham of Arizona. He made four birdies during his final round, mostly on the back nine, and parred six of his last seven holes.
Freshman
Joey Vrzich carded the second-best Wolf Pack round of the day with a 3-over 75. He finished in a tie for 66
th place in the 100-player field. Senior
Kaleb Gorbahn shot a 76 on Saturday to tie for 45
th place at 10-over par. Newcomer
Sam Harned, in his first collegiate event as part of the team lineup, posted a career-best finish of a tie for 51
st after shooting a 77 on Saturday. Senior
Corey Eddings also shot a 77 for his final round and tied for 89
th place.
Nevada will return to competition at Cal's event, the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, Oct. 9-10 at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
