MADISON, Wis. – The Nevada men's golf team continued its run at the Badger Invite, hosted at University Ridge Golf Course, and remains in the top five with one round remaining.
The Wolf Pack as a team carded a 1-over par round but remains under par for the tournament. Nevada is at 2-under par overall and is tied with Iowa State for fifth place in the 15-team field. Texas A&M, which sits at 16-under par, continues to lead the event after 36 holes and is six shots ahead of Marquette for the team lead. Kansas sits in third place and Notre Dame has a hold on fourth place, two shots up on Nevada.
Senior
Grant Booth remains the Wolf Pack leader, despite a 1-over par round of 73 on Monday. Booth is at 2-under par for the tournament and is tied for 13
th in the 102-player field. The most consistent player for head coach
Jacob Wilner so far in this event is senior
Corey Eddings. Eddings carded an even par round of 72 during the opening round and shot a 1-under 71 on Tuesday, placing him in a tie for 18
th place.
Making the biggest jump for the Wolf Pack was freshman
Joey Vrzich, who climbed more than 20 spots on day two. Vrzich, who shot a 74 on Sunday, followed up his first round with a 3-under 69 on Monday, the best round of the day for Nevada. Vrzich recorded his first collegiate eagle on his second hole of the day and birdied three holes on the back nine to card the 69 and jump into a tie for 18
th place.
Senior
Kaleb Gorbahn struggled in his second round with a 77 on Monday, dropping him down to a tie for 39
th. Redshirt junior
Jooho Lee is tied for 43
rd after shooting a 76 in round two. Newcomer
Sam Harned saw improvement in his game on Monday, dropping six strokes from his opening round score to card a 4-over 76.
