Wolf Pack three shots back at Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational

Booth three shots back of individual lead.

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Nevada men's golf team shot the best team round of the day on Friday and has positioned itself three shots back of the lead at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational.

The Wolf Pack combined for a team score of 282 in the second round, good for 6-under par and the best team round of the afternoon. Nevada sits at 11-under par after the event's 36 holes of play, tied with No. 29 BYU. The Pack and Cougars both trail No. 22 Santa Clara by three shots with 18 holes left to be played on Saturday. Just nine of the 19 teams in the field are currently under par.

Nevada jumped two spots on the leaderboard thanks to the play of seniors Grant Booth, Corey Eddings and sophomore Sam Harned. Booth carded one of his best rounds of the season with a 4-under 68, jumping 14 positions on the individual leaderboard to a tie for third place. With two rounds under par so far, Booth sits at 6-under par overall, just three shots back of individual leader Alex Lee of Fresno State. Booth's 10 birdies through 36 holes ranks tied for fourth-most in the field.

Eddings carded a season-low round of 69 on Friday and made the biggest jump of any Wolf Pack player as he advanced 41 spots. Eddings turned in a superior back nine, making just one mistake on No. 17, but made birdie on No. 10, 11 and 13-15. He shaved five shots off of his first round score and sits at 1-under par for the tournament in a tie for 21st.

Harned also made a big jump on Friday, moving up 40 spots on the leaderboard. He shot seven shots better than his opening round, going from a 5-over 77 to a 2-under 70. He enters Saturday's final round tied for 55th.

Junior Kaleb Gorbahn and freshman Joey Vrzich both struggled slightly in their second rounds, carding rounds of 75 and 76, respectively. Both are tied at 1-over overall for 38th place. Redshirt junior Jooho Lee, who is entered as an individual, improved his game by eight strokes after firing an even par round of 72 today. Lee is tied for 88th place.

Nevada concludes the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Saturday with the final round. Live scoring is available on GolfStat.com.
