San Francisco, Calif. - Nevada's Men's and Women's Cross Country programs completed the USF Invitational in San Francisco, California, Friday Aug. 29.
First up on race day was the Women's 6k, where the Wolf Pack finished 4th and had four finishers in the top-40 out of the 125-person field.
Natalia Martino led the way for the Wolf Pack with a solid performance, finishing 23rd with a time of 21:57.8. Right behind her was Aubrey Thompson, who placed 24th with a time of 21:58.9. Also breaking into the top-35 was Madelyn Shipman, running 22:07.8 to take 30th and not far behind, Kylee Denver, clocking a 22:14.6 to finish 34th.
The Pack's next finisher was Natalie Roberts in 45th with a time of 22:33.2, followed by Skylar Bennett, who ran 22:49.9 to place 56th. Rounding out Nevada's top-100 were Mary DeMartini, who crossed in 23:48.1 to place 90th, and Marina Renna, who ran 23:58.7 to place 94th.
The 8k was next up for the men's side. The Pack finished 7th and had two finishers in the top-15.
Austin Key paced the Wolf Pack with a standout race, finishing 10th overall in 25:03.8. Right on his heels was Eddie Yunker, who crossed in 25:08.1 to take 13th. After the top-15 duo, Elijah Chavez posted a time of 25:33.3 to finish 47th, while Sergio Mazon followed close behind in 51st with a time of 25:38.8.
Mateo Delgadillo was next best for Nevada, placing 54th in 25:43.7, with Soma Baligad right behind at 25:52.3 for 58th. Jett Leavitt added another top-75 finish, clocking 26:13.5 to take 71st. Rounding out the Pack's top-100 was Jackson Hammons in 84th with a time of 26:33.9. Nevada's final finisher was Pierce Simpkins, who ran a 26:56.0 to finish 102nd.
The Nevada teams return to action Sept. 13 at the Kim Duyst Twilight hosted by Stanislaus State.
