Reno, Nev - Shot Put kicked off Day 2 at the Silver and Blue Invitational hosted by Nevada at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
Johanna Haas was the best of the group for the Pack with a measure of 12.40m to place 6th. Freshman duo
Anne Schuch (11.39m)Â and
Alma Kathan (8.98m) competed in Flight 1 and placed 11th and 15th respectively.Â
Next up for the Pack was the triple jump, where
Meekness Dogonyaro put on a great performance, setting a PR (12.83m) with her second last jump of the day. That measure also puts gives Dogonyaro the 3rd best triple jump in Nevada school history.Â
400m was the first track event of the day and
Caitlynn Holt was the best of the bunch for the Pack, placing 9th with a time of 1:00.45. Closely following was
Leylah Diaz with a time of 1:01.44, and rounding out the group was Mckenzie Milton in 13th (1:03.41). Following the 400m was the 800m where
Mary DeMartini placed 4th with a time of 2:17.73.Â
200m was next up and Freshman
Mia Flowers backed up her great performance in the 60m Dash yesterday with 10th best time in Nevada school history in the 200m, an exciting start to the Freshman's career.
Kylee Parsons also raced well putting in the 9th best time at 24.97. Rounding out the Pack 200m runners were
Oke Gift Ovedje (25.41) and
Jasmine Harris (26.33) who placed 13th and 19th respectively.Â
The Pack had three competing in the High Jump and
Hazel Gaspaire was the best performer of the group clearing the 1.70m to finish in 2nd. Valeria Paez-Rueda and
Stina Larsson both cleared the 1.60m mark to finish in 9th.Â
The 600m was a high quality race where
Kylee Denver placed 3rd but ran the 5th fastest time in Nevada school history, running a time of 1:36.19. 3000m was next up and
Natalia Martino outclassed her opponents running a great race finishing in first with a time of 10:13.25.Â
The final event of the day was the 4x400 where the Nevada A team (Parsons, Groppe, Holt, Flowers) ran a strong race to win their flight with a time of 3:59.80 to place 6th. Nevada B (Diaz, Ovedje, Harris, Dogonyaro) put in a good effort finishing right behind them in 7th (4:01.87). One place behind them was Nevada C (DeMartini, Haas, Milton, Chalmers) who ran a 4:02.85 to finish in 8th.Â
Nevada Track and Field will be back in action January 23/25Â for the Nevada Invite/Multis at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.Â
