SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Nevada Men's Golf team turned in a dominant performance Monday at the Gaucho Invitational, recording their best 36-hole score of the season to complete the day in sole possession of first place by eight strokes.
The Pack fired off rounds of 275 (-13) and 281 (-7). Nevada's first round score of 275 marked a new season-best, and the Pack will enter the third and final round in first place.
Enrique Dimayuga was sensational for Nevada, posting scores of 68 (-4) and 66 (-6), as he finished the day in first place on the individual leaderboard. Dimayuga will have the opportunity to earn the first individual title by a Wolf Pack golfer this season, as he owns a one stroke advantage with 18 holes to play.
In the first round, Dimayuga recorded 10 pars and six birdies, before recording 10 pars and seven birdies in the afternoon round.
Tom Patterson and Supakit (Oak) Seelanagae each concluded the day tied sixth at -5. Seelanagae had an immaculate performance to start the day, carding a score of 65 (-7) after tallying 10 pars, six birdies, and one eagle on the par-5 13th hole. Seelanagae shot 74 (+2) in the afternoon round.
Patterson carded a 70 (-2) in the first round, recording six pars and one eagle on the par-5 13th hole. Patterson had a highly prolific second round, posting a score of 68 (-2) after earning five pars and eight birdies.
Liam Gobin also had a stellar day for the Pack, completing the first 36-holes tied for 19th at even par. Gobin fired off back-to-back rounds of 72 (E).
Alex Maxwell rounded out the Wolf Pack lineup, finishing the day tied for 68th at +13.
Competing as an individual participant, Keita Okada concluded the first day of play tied for 63rd at +10.
Nevada will seek to win their first team title of the season, while Dimayuga pursues an individual championship tomorrow.
