RENO, Nev. - Following a four-month intermission after the fall season, the Nevada Men's Golf team will commence their Spring Championship season this Monday in La Quinta, California at The Prestige at PGA West.
Tournament Info
The Prestige at PGA West is a three-day, 54-hole event beginning on Monday morning (Feb. 19) and concluding on Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 21). Golfers will play one 18-hole round each day.
The Field
The Prestige boasts a loaded field of top-tier collegiate teams. The 24-team field consists of 14 teams from power-five conferences, as well as five teams ranked within the top-25 teams in the nation. Outside of Nevada and host schools Stanford and UC Davis, the field consists of Washington State, Chattanooga, Kansas State, Washington, Duke, Northwestern, Baylor, Iowa State, LMU, Colorado State, Oregon State, Texas Tech, Oregon, Cal Poly Kansas, San Francisco, Princeton, Louisville, UCLA, San Diego, and SMU.
The Course
Designed by legendary golfer Greg Norman, the course at PGA West was built in a prehistoric ocean bed 40-feet below sea level. It is surrounded by mountains and is designed as a target-style course. The course is a par-72 that spans nearly 7,200 yards. It is described as a challenging but fair course that consists of a multitude of sand traps and lakes.
Projected Lineup
Enrique Dimayuga
In his debut appearance for the Wolf Pack after joining the program ahead of the spring season, Dimayuga will be at the forefront of the Nevada lineup. A senior from London, England, Dimayuga has had tremendous success throughout his collegiate career. DImayuga began his career at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), where he was a First Team All-Conference USA honoree during his sophomore season. Dimayuga was the first FAU men's golfer since 2009 to qualify for the NCAA Regional Round as an individual participant. Dimayuga accumulated a scoring average of 71.76 throughout his sophomore season, and he owns a career-best round of 66. After spending the first two and a half years of his collegiate career at FAU, Dimayuga transferred to Arkansas, spending a year and a half with the Razorbacks before joining the Wolf Pack program this past January. Dimayuga competed in five events during his time at Arkansas, compiling a scoring average of 74.47. He will aim to add a tremendous boost to the Nevada lineup and put together a stellar outing in his debut appearance for the Pack.
Ryan Sear
Sear will make his third overall appearance for Nevada and second as a part of the Wolf Pack lineup this week, after an exceptional three rounds of qualifying. This past fall at the 2023 Husky Individual Invitational, Sear had an outstanding performance, carding rounds of 72-71-68 to finish tied for 14th at -5. Sear also competed at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, where he finished tied for 92nd at +18. The sophomore has continued to improve during his time at Nevada and will seek to carry over the momentum he built during qualifying and turn in a strong performance for the Pack.
Jonathan Kim
After a highly impressive fall season, the freshman returns to the Nevada lineup in the Pack's first event of the spring season. Kim competed in all four events for Nevada throughout the fall season, compiling a scoring average of 73.9. He had his best overall outing at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, where he finished first in the Wolf Pack lineup and tied for 15th overall at -3. His best score of the fall season was a 69, which he recorded two separate times.
Liam Gobin
The junior from London, England had a solid fall season in his first year with the Pack and will aim to carve out an instrumental role in the Nevada lineup this spring. Gobin competed in three of four events this past spring, and he had his best performance at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, where he concluded the event at four shots over par.
Tom Patterson
The senior from Perth, Australia rounds out the Nevada lineup. In the second half of what could be his final season with the Pack, Patterson will aim to commence the spring season in stellar fashion. Patterson competed in all four events for Nevada this past fall, accumulating a scoring average of 73.3. Patterson had his best outing of the fall at the 2023 Husky Invitational, finishing first in the Nevada lineup and tying for 22nd overall at -1. Patterson has been consistent for the Pack over the past two seasons and will seek to take his play to a new level this spring.
Individual Participants
Keita Okada, Supakit (Oak) Seelanagae, Alex Maxwell, and Aaron Leach will all be competing in the event as individual participants.
