Nevada Closes Out Marquette Intercollegiate with Stellar Final Round Showing

ERIN, Wis. - The Nevada Men's Golf team turned in their best performance of the young season in the third and final round of the Marquette Intercollegiate Tuesday, carding a combined score of 285 (-3) to advance three spots on the leaderboard, as they finished in ninth place at +32 in their season-opening event. 

Senior Keita Okada had an exceptional round to close out the tournament, matching the second best 18-hole score of career by recording a 68 (-4). Okada had a nearly mistake-free round, tallying 13 pars, three birdies, and one eagle on the par-4 15th hole. The impressive outing from Okada allowed him to advance 29 spots in the individual standings, as the senior finished in sole possession of 34th on the final leaderboard at +9. 

Supakit (Oak) Seelanagae had his best round of the event, carding an even-par 72 to close out the tournament. Seelanagae had 14 pars and two birdies throughout the final round, and he finished tied for 22nd at +7.  

Tom Patterson bounced back from his second-round 83, as the senior carded a 73 (+1) in the final round, placing him in a tie for 40th overall at +11. Patterson finished the front nine three shots over par; and, after picking up a bogey on the 10th hole, he significantly elevated his game and had a phenomenal finish, earning four birdies, three pars, and a lone bogey over the final eight holes.  

Alex Maxwell also had a strong showing to close out the Marquette Intercollegiate, recording an even-par 72 throughout the final round to finish tied for 50th in the individual standings at +13. Maxwell tallied 12 pars and three birdies across the final set of 18 holes.  

Liam Gobin rounded out the Wolf Pack lineup, carding an 82 (+10) for the final round. Gobin finished the event tied for 72nd at +22. 

Competing as an individual participant, Jonathan Kim finished in a tie for 50th at +13 after recording a 78 (+6) on Tuesday.
