Wolf Pack Men’s Golf Set to Begin Season at Marquette Intercollegiate

RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Men's Golf team is slated to officially commence the 2023-24 season Sunday morning at the Marquette Intercollegiate, hosted by Marquette at Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wisconsin.

Tournament Info

The Marquette Intercollegiate is a three-day, 54-hole tournament spanning from Sunday-Tuesday. 12 teams from across the country will compete in the event which is set to take place at Erin Hills Golf Course. All five competitors from each school will play 18 holes each day, with tee times beginning at 7 a.m. Pacific Time on Sunday morning. This year's tournament will mark the 10th straight year that the Marquette Intercollegiate has taken place.

The Field

The Marquette Intercollegiate boasts an exception field, with Nevada set to compete against host school Marquette, as well as Augusta, California, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Dayton, Penn State, Purdue, Texas A&M, UC Davis, and Wisconsin

The Course

The site of the 2017 U.S. Open, world-renowned Erin Hills Golf Course is a par-72, spanning 7,731 yards. The Course is surrounded by wetlands and a river, and it is known for having an unconventional design for Wisconsin, as the fairways provide a firm playing surface that plays shorter than its actual length.

Projected Lineup

Keita Okada

Okada returns for his senior season and will lead the Wolf Pack lineup in their first event of the season. Okada is coming off his best collegiate season yet, where he set new career records in best 18-hole score (67) and best 54-hole score (-4). He will aim to begin his senior season where he left off last year.

Tom Patterson

Another senior, Patterson enters his fourth season with the Pack and will seek to help them compete for a title in their first tournament of the year. Patterson had a solid junior season, setting new career best marks for 18-hole score (67), 54-hole score (-5), and best finish (T20).

Liam Gobin

The transfer from McLennan CC will make his debut for the Pack at the Marquette Intercollegiate. Gobin had a sensational career at the JUCO level, earning Second Team All-American this past year for his stellar play. Gobin will aim to make an immediate impact on the Pack Golf program, beginning with a strong outing over the next three days.

Alex Maxwell

After enrolling ahead of the Spring 2023 season, Maxwell instantly became one of the primary contributors throughout the Spring season. Entering the Marquette Intercollegiate, Maxwell has one top-five finish under his belt, and has finished within the top 40 in five of six tournaments in his career. Maxwell will aim to carry over the momentum he built up

Supakit (Oak) Seelanagae

Another JUCO transfer, Seelanagae also had an outstanding career at his previous school before joining the Pack, helping lead Dodge City CC to two consecutive NJCAA National Championship appearances. Seelanagae also had an impressive summer, winning two tournaments outright while managing to make the cut and finish T27 as an amateur at the Singha-Sar Chonburi Classic on the Thailand PGA Tour.
