COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Following an exceptional collegiate debut at the historic John A. Burns Intercollegiate this past week, Nevada Men's Golfer Alex Maxwell has been named the Mountain West Men's Golf Freshman of the week, the conference announced Thursday.
After joining the Pack ahead of the 2023 spring season, Maxwell made his debut for Nevada at the well-renowned John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Hawai'i.
Competing against some of the top programs and individual golfers in the nation, Maxwell finished tied for 38th in a field of 126 total golfers.
The freshman had an outstanding start to the event, carding a 68 (-4) over the first 18 holes of play.
After recording a 76 (+4) in the second round, Maxwell bounced back to shoot a 69 (-3) in the final round to finish first in the Wolf Pack lineup in what was an impressive debut tournament.
