Of the 17 men's scoring teams, five are nationally ranked, including first-place Northern Arizona and third-place BYU. Mountain West foes New Mexico and Air Force come in at 19

The championship is the only opportunity for athletes to secure a spot in the NCAA National Championships, hosted by the Virginia Cavaliers in Earlysville. The top two teams in each region secure automatic bids to the championship. Individually, the first four regional finishers that do not belong to an automatic qualifying team also secure an auto-bid to the championships. The rest of the qualifying spots will rely on the NCAA D1 Cross Country Subcommittee.
