PALO ALTO, Calif. – With one round complete at The Goodwin, Nevada men's golf senior
Sam Harned is in the hunt for the individual title.
Harned recorded one of the best rounds in Wolf Pack history as he carded a 7-under 63 on Thursday. His round of 63 not only set a new career-low for the California native, but is tied for the second-lowest round in program history along with Sprague Kolp in 2002-03. Harned was seeing red all over his scorecard as he collected nine birdies throughout his round, including five on the front nine. After today's round Harned is tied for the individual lead with Blake Hathcoat of Saint Mary's. They both have a one shot lead heading into Friday's second round.
Harned's incredibly strong outing on Thursday helped put the Wolf Pack in the top 10 in the 28-team field. Nevada combined to shoot a team score of 284 and is in ninth place at 4-over par. The Pack is currently higher in the team standings than three top 50 programs, including No. 19 SMU. Tournament host Stanford has a three-shot lead at 5-under par over No. 8 Arizona State.

Trey Davis are both tied for 50
th after the opening round. MacDougall and Davis both fired a 2-over par 72 on Thursday, with Davis notching 13 pars during his round and MacDougall collecting six birdies. Senior
Sam Meek is tied for 111
th in the 146-player field after shooting a 7-over 77, and sophomore
Michael Sarro's 81 has him in 145
th place.
