ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On day two of the Mountain West Indoor Championship, the Pack saw many of its student-athletes qualify for the finals and one student-athlete move into a Nevada all-time list.
Junior Lauren Green started the day off right in the 400 meter dash, which saw the junior qualify for the finals with her time of 55.83. Not only that, but Green also moved into fifth at Nevada in the event passing Franziska Kindt and her time of 56.29.
Also moving on to the finals in the 400m dash is junior Karoline Sauer, who overall finished fourth with her time of 55.83. Both juniors will compete in the finals tomorrow for the 400m dash at 10:50 a.m. PST.
Sophomore Emily Costello continued the success of her teammates as she qualified for the finals in the 200m dash. Her time of 24.18 was just slower than her school record in the event and was good enough for a seventh place overall finish. She will compete in the finals tomorrow at 11:50 a.m. PST.
The event also saw sophomore Cece Stevenson get a new personal best with her time of 25.45. Junior Brooke Carson was just behind Stevenson with her time of 25.59. Unfortunately, both student-athletes did not qualify for the finals.
Junior Agnese Mulatero had success in the 60m hurdles, which saw the junior's time of 8.72 earn her an eighth overall placement in the event and qualify her for the finals. She will be competing in the finals tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. PST.
In the 5000m run finals, senior Hiley Dobbs dominated the 23 student-athlete ran race. Her time of 17:18.62 earned her a sixth place finish in the event and was just below her already fifth place Nevada all-time placement in the event.
Along with the 3000m run, another long distance event saw success from a Pack athlete. Sophomore Mikayla Shults's time of 5:11.20 was good enough to beat her old personal best of 5:14.58.
In field events, freshman Olaia Becerril saw success in the long jump. Her distance of 5.66m earned her a third place finish in her flight and a 10th place overall finish. Sophomore Hanah Smrt joined Becerril in the high jump and was just behind her with her fourth place flight finish. Smrt's distance of 5.62m was good enough for a 12th place finish and a new personal best.
Nevada will earn a team total of three more points as they sit in ninth place heading into the final day of Mountain West Indoor Championship. Junior Nicola Ader will start off the day tomorrow in the high jump at 8:30 a.m. PST.
