Personal bests set on day two of the Silver State Invitational and Combined Events

Reno, Nev. - Nevada Track and Field continued competition at the Silver State Invitational, Friday, posting personal bests in jumps, sprints and distance events. 

Madelyn Shipman and Skylar Bennett were the Pack runners in the mile, with both putting in immense effort on their way to personal bests. Madelyn Shipman (5:09.03) ran a great race, keeping up with the lead pack for the majority of the race. Skylar Bennett finished right behind in 4th, running a time of 5:20.65. 

The Pack had two long jumpers, Meekness Dogonyaro in flight two and Kaja Maltaric in flight three. Dogonyaro's best jump came on her first jump of the day, recording a mark of 5.39m. Maltaric placed third with a jump of 5.79m, her best indoor long jump mark of her collegiate career. In the final, Maltaric bested her mark, reaching 5.80m, a new personal best. 

The 400m ran next, with freshman Malena Galvan the fastest time for the Pack. Her time of 56.31 sits just outside of the Nevada indoor all time list for the 400m. Leylah Diaz posted the next best time for the Pack, running a personal best 58.52. Freshman Amaya Chapman posted a sub 60 second time in her first race as a part of the Pack running a 59.09. Jasmine Harris was next best running a time of 59.87, followed by Caitlynn Holt at 1:01.13.

The Pack's 800m runners were led by Kylee Denver, who ran a great race, finishing fourth overall with a time of 2:16.67. Right behind were Mary DeMartini with a time of 2:20.04, in sixth and Madelyn Shipman, running for the second time of the day in eighth at 2:22.44. Rounding out the Pack 800m finishers was Oke Gift Ovedje, running her first indoor 800m for the Pack, finishing with a time of 2:34.80. 

Aubrey Thompson ran the 3000m for the Pack, putting on an personal best performance of 10:29.92. Thompson hung with the lead pack for the majority race and fought to the finish line for a 4th place finish. 

Hazel Gaspaire led the way for the Wolf Pack in the high jump, clearing 1.67m to place third. Stina Larsson placed fourth, clearing 1.62m and Mary Casserly placed 13th clearing 1.57m. 

The 200m was led by freshman Nayla Piper, who ran a 24.79, the 17th fastest time in the field, a great performance in her first 200m race for the Pack. Vivian Groppe also posted a sub 25 second time, running a 24.90, the 21st fastest in the field. Freshman Malena Galvan posted a time of 25.45, closely followed by fellow freshman Amaya Chapman, who ran a 25.83. Rounding out the Pack 200m finishers were Misa Holland (26.03), Savana Chalmers (26.85) and Meekness Dogonyaro (27.75). 

The Pack pole vaulters rounded out the days events, Alyssa Carson led the way, clearing 3.65m placing 5th. Freshman Adessa Matthews showed great early season form, clearing the 3.50m height to place 9th. Rounding out the Pack vaulters were Stella White and Natalie Hobbs, clearing 3.35m and 3.20m respectively. 

The Pack return to the Reno-Tahoe Indoor Track tomorrow to conclude competition at the SIlver State Invitational and Combined Events.
