The Wolf Pack heads to the Libby Matson tournament

RENO, Nev. – For the fourth time in five seasons, the Nevada softball team will travel to Stockton, California to participate in the Libby Matson tournament. The four games that the Wolf Pack is scheduled to play will start on Feb. 15 with Seattle U, a team who competed in the 2019 NCAA Regional tournament.

After playing Seattle, Nevada will take on CSUN to wrap up Saturday before meeting CSU Bakersfield and Pacific on Sunday, Feb. 16. Fans can follow along with live stats and keep up with the team by following along on social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).

Last year at the Libby Matson, the Pack went 3-1 with wins over California Baptist and Pacific with the lone loss to Oregon State, 5-1.

Nevada is coming off of a tough weekend, going 0-5 at the 2020 Puerto Vallarta College Challenge, after facing nationally-ranked Oklahoma along with receiving votes Oregon and BYU. Freshman Blake Craft had her first collegiate start in the circle on day one against BYU and tossed a complete game while allowing just two earned runs. Other freshmen had collegiate firsts with Charli McLendon, Hailey Merlino and Chelie Senini all registering first starts while all tallying first Nevada hits.

Sierra Mello picked up right where she left off last season, recording seven hits, a triple and a run scored. Mele Tausinga started over at third base, her first start for the Pack since the 2018 season and led the team in extra bases, hitting a double and a triple against Utah Valley.

Following the Libby Matson tournament, the Pack will travel back to California for two games in Moraga, Calif. on Feb. 21 against Utah Valley and Saint Mary's before taking on NCAA regional team, Stanford in a three-game series on Feb. 22 and 23.
