MADISON, Wis. – After the first 18 holes of the Badger Invitational, the Nevada men's golf team is tied for sixth place at 3-over par.
The Wolf Pack sits just outside the top five in the 16-team field at 3-over with Mississippi. Nevada trails Iowa State by just one shot for a top five spot with 36 holes still to be played. The Pack carded a team score of 291 on the day. Notre Dame leads the field at 5-under, followed by Kansas at 2-under.
Senior
Sam Harned led the Wolf Pack on day one, carding the team's only under par round with a 2-under 70. Harned sits inside the top 10 in the 96-player field in a nine-way tie for sixth place, but is just one shot behind the leaders. Sophomore
Trey Davis fired an even par round of 72 in his first round of the season and is tied for 20
th place.
Senior
Tony Gil enters round two tied for 35
th place after shooting a 2-over 74 on Sunday. Freshman
Connor Motherway, a Reno native, made his collegiate debut today and carded a 3-over 75 in his first round. He is currently tied for 45
th place. Senior
Sam Meek rounded out the list of Pack golfers in a tie for 63
rd place after he shot a 5-over 77.
There is a five-way tie for the individual lead after the first round of action with those five players sitting at 3-under par.
