Callens signs to join men’s golf program

RENO, Nev. – Nevada men's golf coach Jacob Wilner has announced the signing of transfer Peyton Callens to a scholarship agreement. He will join the program this fall.

Callens spent one year at Texas A&M before transferring to the Wolf Pack. He played in one event with the Aggies, giving him three years of eligibility remaining. A native of Langton, Ontario, Callens most recently captured the Ontario Men's Match Play Championship last week. He defeated six players en route to claiming the match play championship.

During his prep career, Callens posted many strong finishes including the Ontario Junior Boys Championship in 2016. He also claimed medalist honors at the 2017 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) New Era Junior Championship, finished runner-up at the 2016 AJGA Canadian Championship and was third at the 2016 Canadian Junior Boys Championship. Additionally he earned a top 10 finish at the 2017 Canadian Junior Championship.

For two years Callens was a member of the Canadian National Development team, which consists of the top five junior players in the country. In addition he has traveled internationally for many events to places such as Argentina, Guatemala, the United States and England as a member of Team Canada.

Callens joins Cam Kellett and Connor Motherway as newcomers to the program starting this fall.
