EWA BEACH, Hawai'I – With two rounds complete in the Hoakalei CC Invitational, the Nevada men's golf team remains in the top five.
The Wolf Pack recorded a 1-under par team score of 287 in Tuesday's second round and will enter the final round in fifth place. Nevada is currently 5-under for the tournament, still in the hunt for the team title. No. 10 Louisville and No. 32 East Tennessee State are tied for the team lead and will go into Wednesday at 14-under par, two shots up on Ole Miss.
Nevada got its best performance of the day from senior
Sam Meek, who turned in a 3-under 69. Meek's strong outing on Tuesday moved him up 30 spots into a tie for 19
th in the 114-player field. He collected four birdies and added an eagle on the par 5 ninth to post one of his best rounds of the fall. Meek is tied with fellow senior
Sam Harned at 2-under for the tournament. Harned carded his second consecutive round of 71 today, making three birdies and 13 pars during his round.
Sophomore
Peyton Callens also fired a 1-under 71 to move up 18 spots into a tie for 31
st. On holes 3-9 Callens made four birdies, including a stretch of three in a row. He is at even par for the tournament. Senior
Tony Gil put together a round of 76 on Tuesday and is 3-over for the event and tied for 55
th. Sophomore
Trey Davis dropped to a tie for 64
th after shooting a 7-over 79 today.
Harrison Kingsley of San Diego and Shiso Go of East Tennessee State share the individual lead at 8-under par with 18 holes remaining. They have a one-shot lead over three players tied for third.
