SAN DIEGO, Calif.  – The Nevada cross country team took sixth in today's Mountain West Championship. The Wolf Pack's charge was led by juniors
Hiley Dobbs and
Lindsey Sickler finishing 16th and 17th, respectively. Nevada picked up Silver State Series points, as UNLV finished 11th.

"We ran very well one, two and three. We had some struggles at four and five that cost us some points," said coach
Kirk Elias. "I thought the team put out a very tough effort. I'm really pleased with their effort."

Dobbs crossed the finish line in 21:23.1, with Sickler right behind her at 21:25.3. Junior
Stefanie Ortega was third on the team, coming in 26
th with a time of 21:59.9. Junior
Cora Gallop clocked a time of 22:46.8 to finish 46th, and freshman
Tabatha Walford rounded out the scorers with 23:11.9 finish, good for 57th place.

The Pack's team score of 155 earned them a sixth place finish, just behind San Jose State's score of 149. New Mexico won the race for the 11th straight year with a score of 33, with Boise State right behind them with a score of 35. New Mexico is ranked number three in the country, with Boise State second.

Air Force, who earned 13 votes in the national poll, finished third. Utah State, ranked 27th in the same poll, took fourth today. Colorado State, who finished seventh today, was ranked ahead of Nevada in the Mountain Regional poll this week, with the Rams at nine and the Pack at 10.

Right alongside Walford was fellow freshman
Alexis Melendrez with a time of 23:12 for a 58th place finish. Juniors
Katarina Stashyn and
Shannon Palladino took 70th and 74th place, respectively. Stashyn finished with a time of 23:41.8 and Palladino finished with a time of 24:02. Freshman
Mikayla Shults took 75th with a time of 24:10.
