MADISON, Wisc. – The Nevada women's cross country team finished 20th in the Pre-National Invitational today.
The Wolf Pack finished ahead of the University of California, with the Golden Bears finishing 23 with a team score of 633. California received 22 votes in last week's USTFCCCA National Poll.
Leading the way for the Wolf Pack was junior
Hiley Dobbs, who finished 42 out of the 234-person race with a time of 21:05. Junior
Stefanie Ortega also placed in the top 100, coming in at 86 with a time of 21:37.
Also scoring for the Pack were juniors
Lindsey Sickler and
Cora Gallop, with 103 and 138 place finishes, respectively. Rounding out the top five was freshman
Tabatha Walford with a finish of 141.
Freshman
Alexis Melendrez finished 187, and junior
Katarina Stashyn came in 202.
"That was a rough race for us. We can do better," said head coach
Kirk Elias. "Time to regroup and get ready for the conference meet."
The Wolf Pack's day is not over, with
Shannon Palladino and
Mikayla Shults running in the white race, scheduled for 1:10 p.m. central time.
The race was won by Arkansas, who is currently ranked number seven in the nation. Colorado, the current number one ranked team in the nation finished tenth.
Next up for the Wolf Pack is a trip to San Diego, Calif. for the Mountain West Conference Championships on October 26.
