Pack shoot into second place after 36 holes at the Mountain West Championships

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Nevada Women's Golf fired into second place following a round two team total of 291 (+3) to sit nine over-par 585. The Pack are right in the hunt going into tomorrow's final round just one stroke behind leaders Grand Canyon.

Marina Nonaka led the charge for the Pack in round two, posting a one under-par 71 that was highlighted by four birdies, three of those coming on the back nine to post an inward 33. Nonaka moved 13 places up the leaderboard in round two and sits in seventh place at two over-par heading into the final round.

Veteran Pack golfer Gabby Kano posted a steady second round of even-par 72, that included four birdies. Kano birdied three par fours on the day and sits tied for third in the field for par four scoring, as well as fifth in the field for birdies made. Kano joins Nonaka in a tie for seventh at two over-par heading into tomorrow's final round.

Anna Shultse had an up and down day in round two, posting a two over-par 74. Shultse's round was highlighted by two back nine birdies that helped her to an inward 36. Shultse is the third member of the Pack in the logjam tie for seventh at two over-par and will look for a final push in tomorrows third and final round.

Coco Kolbas matched Shultse's two over-par second round, posting nines of 36 and 38, Wednesday. Kolbas played a steady round making two birdies and two bogeys in the first 14 holes but made two bogeys on her inward four holes. She will look to make a push toward the top 10 in tomorrow's final round as she sits in 13th place at three over-par.

Rounding out the Wolf Pack starting five was Amy Na, who struggled in the second round posting an eight over-par 80. Na did manage to make three birdies on the day but struggled to keep the bogies off the card. Na sits in 39th and will look for a cleaner card tomorrow.

The Pack will play in the final group tomorrow with conference foes UNLV and Grand Canyon, heading into the final round just one back from leaders Grand Canyon. Nevada will kick action off at 9:10am tomorrow.
