Women's Golf Thomas Patterson

Pack in the mix through two rounds at Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational

TACOMA, Wash. - Nevada Women's Golf opened play at the penultimate tournament of their fall schedule Monday, posting 577 (+1) to sit in a tie for second place through 36 holes. The Wolf Pack leads the field in par-four scoring average and will look to take advantage of par-fives to make a charge at leaders CSU Fullerton tomorrow.

Marina Nonaka came out of the gates firing in round one, shooting a three under-par 69 to share a tie for the lead. Following a double bogey on her opening hole, Nonaka made five birdies with a clean card the rest of the round. Nonaka kept the birdie making form going in the afternoon, making three birdies on her way to a one over-par 73. She sits in a tie for third place at two under-par, just two strokes off the lead.

Freshman Zurich Kanokpornvasin played solid golf in her second outing for the Wolf Pack, making fourteen pars on the round on her way to a two over-par 74. Kanokpornvasin made one birdie on the round offset by three bogies. She kicked off round two with birdies at the par-three 15th and par-five 16th, leveling out in the mid point of the round before punctuating the round of one under-par with two birdies in her last four holes. Kanokpornvasin sits in a tie for tenth at one over-par.

Coco Kolbas sits tied with Kanokpornvasin in tenth at one over-par, posting an opening round three over-par 75. After a tough three over through two start, Kolbas made three birdies offset by three bogies throughout the remainder of the round. Kolbas maintained the birdies and cleaned up the bogies in the afternoon round, making four birdies and two bogies to post a second round 70 (-2).

Next best for the Wolf Pack was Payton Lovisa, who posted an opening round of one over-par 73. Lovisa rattled off five birdies on the round, with three of those coming in her last four holes. Like the rest of the team, Lovisa was able to keep the birdies rolling in round two, making three, with two of those coming in her first three holes on her way to another one over-par 73. Lovisa will look to clean up her card to make her way up the leaderboard in the final round, she sits in a tie for 18th.

Rounding out the Wolf Pack was Amy Na who posted an opening round of four over-par 76. Na, leading the field in pars made, played solid golf on the day, making fourteen pars, but couldn't make any birdies to offset the four bogies made. Na played incredibly clean golf in the afternoon, making a birdie and a bogey on two of her opening three holes before parring into the clubhouse to post an even par 72. Na sits in a tie for 30th at three over-par.
