RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Nevada Women's Golf kicked off the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Women's Golf Championships, Tuesday, playing a solid first round, posting a team total of 294 (+6) to head into round two in fifth and three shots back from the lead. The scoring average for the field in round one was 75.58.

Last year's conference championships runner-up, Anna Shultse, led the way for the Pack in round one, posting an even-par round of 72. Shultse played a very clean round, making two birdies and two bogies, finishing the day sitting in sixth place. She was second in the field for par three scoring along with pars made. 

Coco Kolbas finished round one in 12th place, posting a one over-par 73 that included two birdies offset by three bogies. Kolbas played the par fours one under-par on the round, the third best out of all players in the field. 

Pack senior Gabby Kano posted the third best round of the Nevada starting five, shooting a first round of two over-par 74. Kano tied the Pack for most birdies in round one, making three birdies on the round, offset by five bogies. Kano will look to clean up her scorecard tomorrow, sitting solidly in 16th place. 

Marina Nonaka posted the final counting score for the Wolf Pack, posting a three over-par 75. Nonaka made just the one birdie on the day, offset by two bogies and a double, but sits second in the field for pars made. Nonaka sits in 20th place heading into round two. 

Rounding out the Pack starting five was Amy Na, posting a four over-par 76. Na had an up and down day that included three birdies on the front nine to post a one over-par 37, but struggled to keep the birdies flowing on the back nine. Na sits in 26th heading into round two. 

The Pack will return beginning at 8:20am PT tomorrow for round two play.
