Nevada Falls to UNLV in Silver State Series Matchup

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Nevada Swim and Dive delivered a series of strong performances in Friday's Silver State Series matchup at UNLV, opening the afternoon with dominant results on the boards before competing through a full slate of events in Las Vegas. Ultimately, the Wolf Pack fell to the Rebels by a score of 145–98.

Competition began at 1:15 p.m. with diving, where Bailey Heydra set the tone by winning the 3‑meter event. Nevada then swept the 1‑meter board, led by Heydra in first, followed by Maggie Turpin in second, Citlali Ruiz Rocandio in third, and Vera Brewer in fourth to give the Pack an early advantage.

The swim portion of the meet opened with the 200‑yard medley relay, where Nevada's A team of Ferris, Mihalic, Vagg, and Floate secured a second‑place finish in 1:43.02. The Pack continued to build points in the 1000‑yard freestyle, with Isabelle Gomez placing second in 10:27.03, Kiera‑Lee Allott finishing third in 10:28.95, and Audrey Bull taking sixth in 11:06.86. Nevada added more depth in the 200‑yard freestyle as Huska Batbayar earned second in 1:50.97, followed by Sally Vagg in fifth (1:53.91) and Jennifer Griner in sixth (1:57.00).

In the 50‑yard freestyle, Ferris led the Pack with a second‑place finish in 23.60, while Evie Floate placed fourth in 24.20 and Caitlin Wham took sixth in 24.98. Nevada placed four swimmers in the top seven of the 200‑yard IM, highlighted by Moji Pholjamjumrus in second (2:04.67) and Sara Mihalic in third (2:04.93), with Evie Wood finishing sixth (2:09.90) and Justine Lapierre seventh (2:11.37). Pholjamjumrus carried that momentum into the 200‑yard butterfly, earning another second‑place finish in 2:01.24, followed by Vagg in fourth, Wood in fifth, and Bull in sixth.

Batbayar added another podium finish in the 100‑yard freestyle, taking second in 51.67, while Wham placed sixth in 54.25. Nevada secured third and fifth in the 200‑yard backstroke, with Von Seggern touching in 2:06.37 for third and Griner finishing in 2:11.13 for fifth. The Pack continued to show depth in the 500‑yard freestyle, where Gomez finished fourth, Allott fifth, and Pholjamjumrus sixth.

Nevada's strongest swim of the afternoon came in the 200‑yard breaststroke, where Mihalic claimed first place in 2:18.41. Henley Kerr added a third‑place finish in 2:26.34, and Lapierre placed fifth in 2:27.59 to give the Pack another high‑scoring event. The meet concluded with the 200‑yard freestyle relay, where Nevada earned second and fourth. The A relay of Batbayar, Floate, Von Seggern, and Ferris finished second in 1:35.44, while the B relay of Bull, Griner, Gomez, and Allott secured fourth in 1:43.22.

The Wolf Pack now turn their attention to their upcoming meet against UCLA, where diving will open competition on Friday, January 30 at 1 p.m. with the 1‑meter and 3‑meter events. Swim events and platform diving will follow on Saturday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m.
