Nevada Swimming and Diving takes the win over UNLV

RENO, Nev. – Nevada Swimming and Diving delivered a dominant performance Thursday evening at Lombardi Pool, defeating in-state rival UNLV, 172.5-70.5, to secure the Silver State Series point and improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Wolf Pack won 12 of 13 events on the night, including both relay races, as Nevada controlled the competition from start to finish against the Rebels.

Nevada opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as Molly Von Seggern, Sienna Walo, Scarlett Ferris, and Evie Floate combined for a winning time of 1:37.36 and setting a new program record.

The Pack continued to stack points throughout the evening. Moji Pholjamjumrus paced Nevada with victories in the 200-yard individual medley (2:00.72) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.94), while helping close out the meet as part of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team.

Sienna Walo was another standout performer, capturing the 50-yard freestyle in 21.97 before adding a victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.77. Both times lead the Mountain West.

Ferris swept her individual events, winning the 100-yard butterfly (53.98) and 100-yard backstroke (54.31).

Nevada earned back-to-back wins in the freestyle events early in the meet as Calyn Lothian touched first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.95). In the distance events, Keira-Lee Allott placed second in the 1,000-yard freestyle before finishing runner-up in the 500 freestyle.

The Wolf Pack's depth was on display throughout the lineup. Nevada claimed the top two spots in the 200 IM behind Pholjamjumrus and Sara Mihalic. Mihalic also earned a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching first in 1:02.66 to give Nevada its 10th individual event win of the evening.

On the boards, Nevada swept the diving events. Vera Brewer won the 1-meter competition with a score of 260.18, followed by teammate Isabelle Wright in second. Later in the meet, Maggie Turpin captured the 3-meter title with a score of 273.45, while Wright added another runner-up finish.

The Wolf Pack capped the meet in style with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Pholjamjumrus, Sally Vagg, Evie Floate, and Calyn Lothian combined for a winning time of 3:21.32 to seal the rivalry victory with the Nevada "B" finishing second place after freshman Ava Swigart's anchor leg.

Nevada returns to action Nov. 19-22 when the Wolf Pack competes in the NW Collegiate Swimming Invite and the Lumberjack Diving Invite.
